Scream And Run Cat in the Hat: Which Video to Watch First

Six of the eight Scream And Run videos we pulled have usable captions; two have none, so we say so instead of guessing at them. Sorted by what each one actually shows — the map, the Cat's behaviour, a finished escape, the keys, or just the laughs — here is where to start, with view counts as read on 6 September 2026.

SCREAM AND RUN ACTUALLY GOT ME SCREAMING — by TOUGH · published 5 Sept 2026 · 47,518 views when we read it

01Learn the map first: TOUGH's two-round run

Seen in player footage — TOUGH's own School-then-Mines run, cross-checked against modinner's confirmation that a separate Mines map exists in the menu, and against room names independently mentioned by Cruz, Niz & Rex, modinner and steak.

For a sense of the layout before you press play, start with TOUGH's video. It is the only one of the six we could read that plays a full School round and then a full Mines round back to back, so you see both objective loops, not just one. TOUGH's video had 47,518 views when we read it on 6 September 2026, from a video posted 5 September 2026.

The School half is the usual bag-search loop. The Mines half is a different game inside the game: mine coal with a pickaxe, empty it into a furnace, blow open blocked rock with TNT, then light a fuse to the exit. TOUGH: "FURNACE. OH, WE NEED FOUR MORE. We need four more." modinner's video, posted the next day, independently confirms Mines exists as a menu option even though modinner's group never played it — why we treat the second map as observed, not a one-off claim.

For room names beyond the two maps' loops, Cruz's solo-to-duo run adds the most ground: an auditorium, a vape room, an attic and a basement, plus a marked safe room. Cruz's video had 219,007 views when we read it on 6 September 2026, the highest of the six, from a video posted 5 September 2026. Cruz also shoots down a chat rumor on camera: "there's no secret basement, bro."

02See the Cat's behaviour: Niz & Rex catch the weirdest moments

Seen in player footage — Niz & Rex's own run for the wall-glitch and teleport moments, cross-checked against flashlight-attraction reports from Cruz, steak and Splink, and against light-flicker moments shown in five of the six read videos.

Niz & Rex's duo run is the best single clip for watching the pursuer misbehave. It had 47,450 views when we read it on 6 September 2026, from a video posted 4 September 2026. In this one recorded run, the Cat gets visually stuck inside a wall — "He's wall glitched, bro. He's wall glitched on me." — and one player insists it closes distance faster than normal chasing allows: "Reky, you need to understand that he teleports." Neither moment is corroborated by a second channel in this batch. One player self-reports being jump-scared roughly 15 times in that same session.

Three channels — Cruz, steak and Splink — independently report that an active flashlight beam draws the Cat, not just noise. Cruz warns "Stop flashing the light or he's going to find you," and steak puts it flatly: "He can see your flashlight." Five of the six channels we read also show the school's lights flickering or cutting out when the Cat is close, the most consistently filmed behaviour in this batch.

03See a full escape: modinner and TOUGH both get out

Seen in player footage — modinner's second-attempt escape and TOUGH's own School-and-Mines outcomes, with Cruz's separately reported escape as a third corroborating run.

Three of the six runs we read end in an actual escape, why we call it observed, not a one-off. modinner's group is the clearest: after an aborted first attempt, they escape on a second try, finding four keys — pink, red, yellow and green. That same video also names a fifth door as "silver" rather than the white the other channels report — "that means the rest, the yellow, silver, and green doors are left" — one more reason the exact key count and colour set stays unsettled across channels. modinner's video had 96,949 views when we read it on 6 September 2026, from a video posted 6 September 2026.

TOUGH escapes twice in one video: the School round, then the Mines round, finished holding 4 keys through the pickaxe-and-TNT loop's furnace-and-fuse exit — the single clip with the most escape footage. Cruz's duo also escapes the school (219,007 views read on 6 September 2026), though that video never states an exact key count on screen.

04See keys found: steak's run, with a caveat

Not known

steak's video is the clearest look at key-hunting in progress, but it also shows why we have not verified a single fixed number for this game. Early on, steak tells the group "There's a door and you need six keys," yet that private-lobby run ends with five: "I GOT EVERY SINGLE key except for one more." steak's video had 85,147 views when we read it on 6 September 2026; no upload date is listed for this video.

That six-versus-five gap is steak's own video contradicting itself, not a dispute between channels. Niz & Rex and Splink separately give a flat count of five: "there's so many locks. It's five," and "I need five keys." Treat steak's six as one recorded run's own framing, not a confirmed alternate rule.

What would settle it: a frame-by-frame count of the exit door's locks in steak's own footage, checked against the game's own UI text rather than a player's spoken count.

Inferred — from Inferred from how the fact sheets themselves describe tone — three of the six summaries (Splink, modinner, and Niz & Rex) call the commentary comedic outright, rather than tense or scary; Splink's is the one built around it start to finish.

If you're watching for reactions rather than mechanics, Splink's video is the one whose own summary calls it a loud, comedic reaction playthrough outright, across a small group, a solo stretch, and a 12-player lobby. It had 26,286 views when we read it on 6 September 2026; no upload date is listed. Splink's crew reacts hard to audio cues alone: "WHAT IS THAT LAUGH? DO YOU GUYS HEAR THAT?"

This is our own read of the fact sheets' framing, not a stated fact from any one video, so treat it as a lean, not a rule: modinner's 20-player session is the other strong comedic pick, built around near-constant fart-joke commentary aimed at a young chat rather than straight horror. Niz & Rex's own summary also calls their duo run comedic, though its highlights lean more on mechanics and jump scares than on jokes.

06What we have not checked

What would settle it: captioned re-uploads or a transcript of the two silent videos, a second synced clip matching steak's own run's key tally, and an actual timed test of the Hide and Seek lobby-size floor.

Frequently asked

Has anyone actually escaped Scream And Run Cat in the Hat on video?

Yes. Three of the six runs we read end in an escape: modinner's group gets out on a second attempt, TOUGH escapes both the School and Mines rounds in one video, and Cruz's duo escapes the School map too, without stating an exact key count on screen.

How many keys do you need to escape in Scream And Run?

Most say five. Niz & Rex says "there's so many locks. It's five," and Splink separately states "I need five keys." steak's own video is the outlier and contradicts itself — it first says "There's a door and you need six keys," then ends the run with five. We have not verified which number is correct.

Is Scream And Run scarier alone or with a group?

steak's video is the only one of the six we read to run both setups back to back, and the player calls the solo stretch "insanely scary by myself" — scarier than the earlier public-lobby chaos, though the video does not say why.

What is the Mines map in Scream And Run Cat in the Hat?

A second map confirmed by TOUGH's and modinner's videos, with its own loop: mine coal, fill a furnace quota, blast blocked rock with TNT, then light a fuse to the exit, chased by a second pursuer TOUGH's group nicknames Thomas — train-themed, growing spider-like legs.
